Detroit Derby Girls home

The Detroit Derby Girls League is made up of five home teams, the D-Funk Allstars, the Detroit Pistoffs, the Devil's Night Dames, the Grand Prix Madonnas and the Pistolwhippers. Recruitment is generally held at the end of June, but may also be held at other times during the season. After receiving boot camp training, all new recruits must pass a standardized rules and on-skate skills test. New recruits who pass these tests may be drafted to one of the five home teams. The DDG draft takes place at the beginning of October, but there may also be a second draft mid-season.

The DDG home teams only bout against each other, and do so during the regular Detroit Derby season which begins in November and ends in June.

Skaters who show the dedication and talent to compete at a higher level may also try-out for the Detroit Derby Girls Allstars. Try-outs occur throughout the year as needed. This team represents the league at a National level, playing WFTDA-sanctioned bouts that determine the league’s WFTDA ranking. The DDG WFTDA travel team plays throughout the year, and throughout the country. Most of the team's skaters also skate for one of the DDG home teams.

The DDG also has two other travel teams, a B team, the Motor City Disassembly Line, and a C team, the Motown Wreckers. Both teams are comprised of skaters from all five of our home teams.  MCDL try-outs occur once a year, in the early spring. The Motown Wreckers roster changes for each bout, and may be composed of any skater who is not currently a member of either of the other travel teams. Both teams travel within a limited area, and generally bout during the Detroit Home Team off-season (currently June through October).
